South County Country Dancers founded July 21, 1993 by Don & Diane van Straaten with Wayne & Lynette Harry. We have been dancing all these years at the San Martin Lions Club Hall in San Martin, California. Our logo
below was designed by Robert Caballero, one of our charter members. Our club colors Jade and Fuchsia, were selected by several dancers off of the Dixie Cups we were using for our drinking water jug.We always welcome new dancers to our group. As we do not have structured beginners classes, Diane is very adept at getting you dancing with the rest of us. We have always been a social type dance club, with pot luck dinners, dancing at other events, we have also taken trips to Reno, Paso Robles Mid State Fair, Kauai, Hawaii, Caribbean Cruises. Our big event of the year is always our themed New Years Eve dinner dance at the Lions Hall, our goal has always been to convert the hall into someplace spectacular, we have been an old west saloon and gambling hall, a cowboy and indian camp, a western town and a wonderful cruise ship to welcome in 2000. One year we celebrated on a Mexico cruise out of Los Angeles, and another we spent it at Disneyland and the Rose Parade. We have also joined with other dance groups on a trip to Hawaii and Club Med in Mexico, as I said we are a very social group.
Please come back often, I am adding content weekly with frequent changes to the Calendar as things develope. I also will be adding lots of photos. If there is something you feel needs to be here, let Don or Diane know.
